City Hospital in Punjab

The scene is a civil hospital in Punjab. A woman with a tumour in her abdomen is admitted for surgery. The surgeon has agreed to perform the operation for RS 5000. The relatives of the woman are sitting outside waiting and praying. Suddenly the door of the operation theatre is flung open and the angry looking surgeon confronts the poor relatives. “Do you take me for a fool”. He thunders “you said it is a tumour, and it is not a ordinary tumour, it has many roots and I have to remove the roots also for five thousand rupees”, the relative cower at the onslaught and shell out another thousand to please the doctor. The doctor who had already cut up the patient half way goes back and completes the operation. The relatives are extremely thankful to the doctor
