India backs Iran for SAARC observer

Saturday, March 31st, 2007

The Foreign Secretaries of SAARC member-states met in New Delhi on Saturday ahead of the 14th summit that starts on Tuesday.

They have recommended that Iran be accorded observer status.

Meanwhile, Iran on Saturday moved a step closer to being associated with SAARC, as a high-level meeting of the regional body approved its application for Observer status.

The meeting of SAARC Foreign Secretaries unanimously recommended that Iran’s request be accepted by the Council of Foreign Ministers and the Summit.

Announcing this, Foreign Secretary Shivshankar Menon said the SAARC Standing Committee (of Foreign Secretaries) had made “positive recommendation” and it was for the Summit to decide on it.

The meeting of Council of Foreign Ministers will take place on Monday, a day before the Summit.

Earlier, India had said that it would welcome Iran’s association with SAARC.

Ahead of the meet, security in and around Delhi has been tightened in view of threat perceptions from Pakistan-based militant groups and the LTTE.

The new Home Secretary Madhukar Gupta held a meeting of various security agencies where he was given a detailed briefing by officials of the ministry on steps taken to prevent any untoward incident during the summit.

Heads of seven nations - Afghan President Hamid Karzai, Sri Lanakan President Mahinda Rajapakse, Pakistan Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz, Nepalese Prime Minister G P Koirala, Maldives President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom, Chief Advisor of Bangladesh’s interim government Fakhruddin Ahmed and Bhutan Prime Minister Khandu Wangchuk - will attend the summit.

Crossfire War - India Divided - BJP Leader Severely Criticizes India PM

Thursday, March 8th, 2007

India Prime Minister Manmohan Singh sat motionless as opposition leader Jaswant Singh of the BJP made extremely serious accusations against what he called the “tentative and apologetic” foreign policy of the current Prime Minister.Jaswant Singh’s accusations were so serious they are in effect a declaration of war against the Prime Minister and his leadership. The BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) are extreme Hindu nationalists who are conditioned to hate anyone not Hindu and definitely believe Hindus should remain the predominant power on the sub-continent. [AKI]

It was beliefs and Hindu organizations like them that had the Indian Hindu spiritual leader Mahatma Gandhi assassinated in 1948 as he attempted to end the communal rioting between Hindus and Moslems right after independence in 1947. The BJP represent the same mentality India’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru warned India about shortly before his death in 1964. Since Muslims are the largest minority then Islam has been always seen as the main threat and therefore Pakistan as the main enemy, but also China, due to its territorial disputes with India, which is why Beijing established military relations with Pakistan in 1951.

That is why it was the BJP party that set off the nuclear explosions in May 1998, when they formed the government in Delhi earlier that year forcing Islamabad to respond with nuclear explosions of its own. But Islamabad’s response has not just been limited to nuclear-ballistic-cruise missile tests but in serious military planning with regional governments that support them, Tehran-Beijing-Kabul-Dhaka and perhaps Kathmandu, which has just deployed paramilitary forces along Nepal’s border with India.

Nepalese writers, whose articles appeared on crossfirewar.com two years ago have accused Delhi of having designs on Nepal’s territory. Islamic inflitrators captured by India last year admitted Nepal has also been used as another avenue of infiltration into India. [IRNA]

And it was General Pervez Musharraf, who in 1999 planned Pakistan’s offensive Kargil probe that caught India off guard and exposed serious weakenesses in India’s miltary and its maintenance. Musharraf is now of course President and opposition leader Jaswant Singh stated that under Musharraf Islamabad has seized the initiative from Delhi. Singh observed, “India determined the pace, direction and events…now Pakistan comes up with suggestions and the government of India is reacting to Musharraf… it is a telling loss.” Singh then went on to mention the threat from Beijing, what he called their “string of pearls” strategy of containing India. He referred to Beijing’s, “Extension of the Chinese railway, extension of road, communication into Myanmar (Burma)…its presence in Bangladesh and Sri Lanka… its alliance with Pakistan… it is necessary we recognize and address this.”

As mentioned earlier none of these threats are new. Beijing began to build roads into Myanmar in 1969 and China’s influence is so strong with its military dictatorship Myanmar is in effect one of China’s provinces and another front against India.

Singh also mentioned India is “surrounded by collasped countries or countries on the verge of collaspe, with existing or incipient civil wars.” But what Jaswant Singh may not realize is with this serious division within India’s government, India itself could be on the verge of collaspe if not already. Singh also admitted to severe weaknesses in India’s military especially the Air Force. “India is perhaps the only country with a great diversity of aircraft… no country can afford it. This is not sustainable.” He then called for a review of defence procurement and criticized the “paralyzed decision making” in the Defence Ministry. Previously Jaswant Singh held the position of Defence Minister and External Affairs (Foreign Minister), as well as Finance in the National Democratic Alliance, which the BJP has been a part of.

In his most critical statement Singh accused the current Prime Minister by saying, “You are resolved only to be irresolute… your approach is of surrender.” Manmohan Singh has never run for office, and his positions were always obtained by appointment mostly through the Congress Party of India, which won the election in 2004. His background was actually in economics instead of international affairs, but it may be more significant that he is a member of the Sikh religion, a combination of Hindu and Islam. Manmohan Singh has always believed India should be multicultural and secular, pluralistic, therefore he would never subscribe to any beliefs of religious extremism.

Manmohan Singh may have convinced himself the negotiations with Islamabad can produce a peaceful resolution to the Islamic uprising in Jammu-Kashmir, openly supported by Tehran - Islamabad. Perhaps Singh also believes the threat from Islamic militant groups in Bangladesh can also be negotiated away. He may then be ignoring the very real preparations Islamabad has been making to win the fourth war between India/Pakistan since 1947 and the impact the Khomeini revolution in Iran in 1979, that established Tehran’s current government and its massive support of Islamabad. It was to Tehran Musharraf presented his “Action Plan” a month ago during the Pakistan’s President nine nation tour. Beijing wants the plan to succeed just as much as Tehran-Islamabad and Delhi’s other enemies.

The beliefs and criticisms articulated by Jaswant Singh are by no means his alone and they are not confined to the BJP. In its sixty years of independence India has never been this divided. With these divisions, within Delhi’s governing institutions, it is impossible for India to respond effectively during the next war.

Akali’s in power again in Punjab

Wednesday, March 7th, 2007

Congress took a big hit in punjab as Akaili dal is back in power again in Punjab and the extent of damadge it has done nationally for congress is huge.

Congress is seeing it as a small event in national politics but we all know and so does congress men that it is not a small defeat as punjab is one of thier traditional vote banks and a defeat there means another nail in thier coffin.

It is not really in the interest of Punjab to have voted congress out of power as congress is one party which has some good qualified people and could have transformed the states dying economy.

Sealing of shops in Delhi

Thursday, February 1st, 2007

There has been a huge drive to seal the shops in New delhi whihc are being run illegally in residential areas but this has been going on for more then 50 years now and all of a sudden the government wakes up and starts shutting down the whole of newdelhi? well that isint the case its the supreme court who ordered this to be done and to the best of my knowledge this is going to directly benefit the large retailers who have just started in the capital.. hint hint nudge nudge ha ha ha…

At least the city will be nice and clean for the common wealth games whihc are due in 2010 and there will be less traffic on the roads which used to choke the whole of Delhi with its smoke.

Top opposition leader warns government against yielding to Pakistan on Kashmir

Monday, December 25th, 2006

A top opposition leader on Sunday accused India’s government of trying to settle the decades-old dispute with Pakistan over Kashmir by compromising New Delhi’s long-held position that the Himalayan region is an integral part territory.”I would like to warn the country that the government is planning to make a major surrender on Jammu and Kashmir,” L.K. Advani, a key leader of the Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party, told the party’s national council meeting in Lucknow, the capital of northern Uttar Pradesh state.

“I am worried. If people are not alert, this government can make a compromise,” said Advani, without elaborating on his accusation. Excerpts from his speech were carried by Indian television news channels.

Advani’s accusation came four days after Prime Minister Manmohan Singh welcomed peace proposals from Pakistan — an indication that the longtime rivals may be working on a deal over divided Kashmir.

There was no immediate reaction from Singh’s government.

India and Pakistan have fought two wars over control of Kashmir since they won independence from Britain in 1947.

Pakistani President Gen. Pervez Musharraf earlier this month said Islamabad was willing to give up its claim to all of the region if India reciprocated and agreed to jointly administer Kashmir, which would be granted a wide degree of autonomy.

Musharraf’s comments, made in an interview with India’s NDTV station, came less than a month after India and Pakistan renewed the peace process, temporarily suspended by New Delhi following the July 11 Mumbai train bombings, which killed more than 200 people. India says Pakistan’s intelligence agency played a role in the attack, a charge Islamabad denies.

Next government

Wednesday, September 20th, 2006

Which party would get to rule India in the next term? This is a million dollar question or shall we say million rupees question?

The present government is a cocktail of some fresh good and some rotten fruits.  I particularly dislike the communists being in the government and I would love to see them out of equation in the next elections and mark my words communists will no where to be seen in the next government.

I don’t really like any political party in India but comparatively conress is the best suited to be in centre minus sonia Gandhi and the new puppy rahul Gandhi.

Manmohan singh is the most litrate and politically correct priminister we have ever had and he knows what he is doing especially when it comes to countries finances.

I would love to see congress in power in the next term bt only if they get rid of sonia Gandhi and rahul Gandhi. The reason I don’t like the Gandhi family is that they don’t realy have any thing good to give to my country all they are there in power is for taking out something. Rajiv Gandhi was the most immature prime minister India has ever had and Indira Gandhi reminds me of witches I had grown up seeing in movies and the acts she has been up to during the time she was in power proves that my views are not baised or baseless. It was Indira Gandhi who sent the so called Sant Bhindrawalan to amritsar as his pawn into sikh politics but things didn’t turn out the way she thought they would and Bhindranwalan grew too powerful for her to bring him down politically and the hold he had on the Sikh youth was amazing. Then we saw the draconian Inidra Gandhi when she ordered the Indian army into the Golden temple and ended up killing thousands of  innocent civilians But hey what goes around comes around and her death wasent  anything for her to rejoice for either. Then came her son rajiv Gandhi into power and according to some sources he was the one who ordered the systematic massacre of Sikhs which went on for a few days after the death of  her merciless mother who caused grief to thousands of Sikhs by destroying their holiest  gurudwara. Don’t know if you read it properly I said what goes around comes around So here we go Rajiv Gandhi is no more to rejoice his cruel acts of sikh massacre. Police couldn’t even gather his body from the spot where he was bombed. I don’t really support the act of the killer in both te instances where Indira and Rajeev were killed but I see it as a result of tier own deeds and it was inevitable. Rajeev Gandhi caused deaths of thousands of  Indian army personal by foolishly sending them to srilanka well I call it foolish don’t know what you think of it but isint it foolish to send Indian army when you know they will all be dead one by one and there is no end to the war which is going on in Srilanka. Rajeev Gandhi was the cause of  deaths of thousands of  sons of India who served my mother land selflessly and followed the death orders in Srilanka L they would al be alive if it wasent for the foolish act of Rajeev Gandhi. Well he got it all n one shot by the LTTE bombing and  no one else is to be blamed for that attack on him but the late prime minister himself as he was the one who took that idiotic step of sending the army in there. And the issue still stands where it was.Rajeev Gandhi was not an elected prime minister  he just got that chair for being the son of Indira Gandhi. Can you think of any other reason why he was the prime minister? Do let me know if you can think of anything good he did.

That was about the Gandhi family. Congress as a whole is pretty goo and some of the members are very litrate and dedicated aswell and if congress gets a majority this time around I am sure it will do some good for the country and wont resort to populist measures as all the previous governments did.

BJP? Hummm   they are a bit too hindu for me to like them and a party with a religious touch I a big no no. United states wil stay away from India if BJP comes back to power and who doesn’t know what BJP has been upto all these years be it babri masjid or be it gujrat with their Modi govt in there.

Don’t know if every one knows that it’s a proven fact that Modi is the one responsible for a lot of Muslims being killed in Gujrat and its been widely accepted by the international community , don’t believe it? I got facts to prove it. Take the refusal of a visa by United states for Modi to visit states on grounds which are no secret to any one as it was in news s I am sure you know why he was refused a visa.

All in all congress minus the Gandhi crap would be the best suited government for next term.

Please leave your comments if you have any.
