When shopping in India, you will be sure to find many shops which will mention outside the store that they have a fix price, this simply means what ever price is written on their products that is the final price, and there will be no bargaining. What a lot of people don’t know or realise is that, where you shop has an impact on the pricing of the products. If you go shopping in Connaught Place, every item available there will be as double the price, the reason behind this because the area is full of tourists and mostly rich families live there. Where there are middle class families products will tend to be cheaper there too.

Buying from street sellers

Saturday, April 21st, 2007

Although buying from street seller (rehri wala’s) may be easy, but they do tend to rip you off. It’s nice and easy to see that people come up to your door step to sell products such as vegetables or plants. But when asked about their prices they are much higher than going out and buying them you selves. And the other problem is that people who sell their products are able to tell whether a person is rich or not just by looking at their house and immediately they increase the price on products. But on the other hand your happy to buy these products at a high price then there is no problem.

Electronics products are getting cheaper

Wednesday, March 7th, 2007

I remember the days when a twenty inch colour television used to cost more then Rs15000 about 15 years ago and now you can buy a colour television of same size and quality at about Rs5000, may be a bit less if you go looking for it in a few shops.

I am not sure if its a surge in production which brought the prices down or reduction in production costs but whatever it be its all good as poor people in India can also afford one now.

I am really looking farward to the days when every house hold in India will have a computer and an internet connection.
